Acupuncture at Prenzlauer Berg
Classic acupuncture and permanent acupuncture needles
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is therefore a very old healing method that is now used worldwide. In Germany, acupuncture is officially recognized through inclusion in medical training. We offer you acupuncture treatment in our orthopedic practice at Prenzlauer Berg.
How does acupuncture work?
According to the traditional Chinese view, acupuncture is based on a holistic view of the human being. It strengthens the body’s self-healing powers and harmonises the yin and yang energy, as well as the overall energy called Qi.
By placing small needles on certain points of the meridians (or energy channels), the energy balance can be regulated by intervening in a balancing and supporting manner in the bodily functions and harmonizing a disturbed balance of the forces acting in the body.
In orthopedics, acupuncture is particularly used for the treatment of painful joint diseases and changes in the spine.
Permanent acupuncture needles
Permanent acupuncture needles have become an integral part of modern acupuncture and reflex therapy. They are used for ear and body acupuncture. The needles can be left in the patient’s tissue for a few days and act through permanent stimulation.
Ear acupuncture
The ear is a micro system representing the whole body. A significant increase in the effectiveness of traditional body acupuncture can often be achieved with just a few needles.
Acupuncture can be covered by statutory health insurance
The statutory health insurance companies cover the costs in the case of knee joint arthrosis (cartilage damage in the knee joint) and lumbar spine syndrome, provided the symptoms have existed for at least six months and have been documented by a doctor.
Unfortunately, the costs for long-term acupuncture are not covered by statutory health insurance. It is an IGeL service.
