Holistic orthopaedic diagnostics

Diagnosis by orthopaedic surgeon
Dr. Sven Hufnagel

In our orthopaedic surgery at Prenzlauer Berg, we set great value upon a holistic diagnosis in a calming environment. In addition to manual diagnostics, the examination also includes the use of technical equipment such as MRI or ultrasound. Based on the results, we will discuss your therapy and treatment options with the goal to alleviate your pain, complaints and problems in your musculoskeletal system and to guide you back to a functionally satisfactory life.

Manual diagnostics

A thorough physical examination is the basis for making a proper diagnosis. Throughout manual diagnostics, functional disorders or blockages that are associated with restricted mobility can be detected. I usually focus not only on the affected joint and its (limited) functionality, but also
examine the adjacent structures and the statics of your musculoskeletal system.

If necessary, a targeted imaging procedure (i.e. sonography, X-ray, computed tomography, MRI, etc.) can confirm or rule out the suspected diagnosis.

MRI diagnostics

Due to our close cooperation with radiologists in Berlin, we can access your images promptly. Thanks to many years of experience and ongoing training, the analysis of your images goes far beyond just reading the report.

Sonography

In medicine, we use ultrasound waves from modern sonography to examine organic tissue and to detect a vast range of diseases and injuries. Among other things, sonography is very suitable for detecting free fluids (e.g. effusion in the joint) and for assessing tissue structures such as muscles and tendons even under dynamic movement.

Our modern ultrasound devices are able to display the perfusion using the duplex method. The completely radiation-free examination is painless and gentle.

Laboratory testing

Our partner lab carries out and analyses any required tests and samples for us. Should you have relevant lab results already available, we ask you to please bring them to your appointment.

Make an appointment for your diagnosis

Following the diagnosis, it’s our aim to achieve your recovery in a targeted and controlled manner using a conservative orthopaedic approach. If a surgical procedure is unavoidable, we can carry out specific operations ourselves or refer you to appropriate specialists.

Are you suffering from pain or have injuries you would like a second opinion? You are welcome to make an appointment online for diagnosis in my orthopaedic practice at Prenzlauer Berg.
